About:
Meghan Berkeley Augustine is a painter whose work explores how landscapes absorb time, memory, and traces of passage. Through layered material processes, she engages with marks and impressions - both visible and invisible - responding to shifting conditions rather than depicting something fixed.
Growing up between Southern California and Arizona, she was drawn to vast, arid landscapes - places where history lingers in the land, shaped by erosion, light, and surface shifts. These early impressions continue to inform her approach, where paint accumulates and erodes like sediment, mirroring how landscapes hold and transform time.
She began her studies in photography at the University of Arizona before shifting her focus to painting. She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing with honors from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. She later completed her graduate studies at The Claremont Colleges, receiving an MFA in Painting from Claremont Graduate University and an MA in Arts Management from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management.
